What is the difference between our left-brain and right -brain?

We do not have two separate brains. Left-brian is the left hemisphere of our brain and the right-brain is the right hemisphere of our brain. But if they comprise the same organ, why are they referred to separately? That is because there are significant differences between the teo hemispheres. Read more to find out…
Read More

Fun fact: The left hemisphere of our brain controls the right side of our body, and the right hemisphere of our brain controls the left-side of our body. But the question is, why?

Functions of the Left Brain:

The left hemisphere of our brain is more analytical, logical, detail-oriented, numerical and thinks in words. It is more active in the process of speech production. People who use sign language to express themselves, use their left brain more than their right brain. The left hemisphere of our brain is more keen on paying attention to our internal world.

Functions of the Right Brain:

The right hemisphere helps our creativity and free-thinking. It enhances our intuition and causes us to think in terms of pictures. Our right hemisphere is our domain of emotion. It is the reason we can communicate and explore in the outer world.

Conclusion:

It is believed that people are either left-brain or right-brain, but that is a myth. The truth is yes, some people are more inclined towards creativity, while some are very logical. But there is no such left-brain or right-brain dominance, it may vary with a person’s location.

Awesome facts about the human body

The human body is infinitely complex. Don’t believe me? Find any standard anatomy or physiology textbook that med students use and you’ll realise how intricately every part of our body has been designed. And what’s most striking is that most of our body parts have been a result of natural selection. Anyway, we’re going to keep this article short and simple and leave the convoluted stuff for another day. Let’s take a look at some awesome facts about the human body.

1) You are taller in the morning - The human body has a lot of cartilages. Now, cartilages being pliable, are also affected by gravity and compress when we are in an upright position during the day. Hence, we appear taller in the morning right after a good night’s sleep in a horizontal position.

2) We produce a lot of saliva - Human beings produce, on average, 0.5-1.5L saliva every day. It’s enough to fill two average sized bathtubs in a year. Please don’t try that though.

3) In the race between fingernails and toenails… - Your fingernails grow faster than your toenails and hence we trim them more often.

4) A lot of skin cell funerals - Every minute, 30,000 dead skin cells are shed off and you’ll shed over 120,000 dead ones by the time you finish reading this article.

5) Gastric acid is made of some pretty strong stuff - The hydrochloric acid produced in our stomach is enough to dissolve thin razor blades.

STAY AT HOME ACTIVITY

DISNEYLAND - AT - HOME

Share some familiar faces with neighbors by making your very own sidewalk art! After watching nearly every Pixar film on Disney+, we were inspired to draw Mike & Sulley from Monsters, Inc. Which Disney and Pixar characters is your family excited to draw? Be sure to tag us on Instagram at @DisneyFamily or use the hashtag #DisneyMagicMoments.

What You’ll Need
1 cup water
1 ¼ cups flour
1 Tablespoon dish soap
Food coloring
Squeeze bottles

How To Play
-> Combine water and flour in a medium bowl. Mix well.
-> Add dish soap. Mix well.
-> Add food coloring (no more than 10-15 drops) and stir until the color has mixed completely.
-> For a Monsters, Inc. color palette, you’ll need to repeat this process five more times to create light blue, purple, light green, dark green, and white. For white, don’t add any food coloring.
-> Use a funnel or measuring cup with a spout to pour the mixture into each squeeze bottle. Each batch fills one 8 oz. bottle.
-> Take your bottles of paint to your own driveway or sidewalk and get creative!
-> To clean up, use a hose or buckets of water to wash paint off. Do not leave your sidewalk art overnight, or else staining may occur.

Additional Information

All sidewalk art activities should be done with adult supervision.
